interesting look at cognitive biases

I found a document on Scribe where Eric Fernandez breaks down cognitive biases into four main categories and gives visual logos for each.  I've attached his example of the Social Biases.  But there are also: memory, decision-making, and probiblity/belief baises.

I thought this was interesting because of its connection to human behavior and motivation.

The Hyperbolic Crochet Coral Reef Project!

The technique of "hyperbolic crochet" was discovered in 1997 by Cornell University mathematician Dr. Daina Taimina.

In 2005 Margaret and Christine Wertheim "adopted Dr. Taimina's techniques and elaborated upon them to develop a whole taxonomy of reef-life forms...   ...The basic process for making these forms is a simple pattern or algorithm, which on its own produces a mathematically pure shape, but by varying or mutating this algorithm, endless variations and permutations of shape and form can be produced."

Its  a math /life /art mash-up that my grandma would have loved.
